When you’re a dumb criminal, you always seem to forget the little things: Like forgetting to take your
pistol out of your sack of coins that you take to the bank to cash in. That’s exactly what an 18 (young & dumb) year old blockhead from Camden Arkansas did this week.
On Wednesday, he went into a BankcorpSouth branch to change $88 worth of nickels to paper money. When the bag was opened, the teller saw the gun inside and told a supervisor who called police.
Camden police Captain Scott Rosson said the .44-caliber handgun was not loaded but the ammunition for the gun was also in the sack. His plan was to sell the gun at a local pawn shop. He must have forgot the order of his “daily list of things to do” which was:
1.) Get out of bed
2.) Get dressed (pants on before shoes – don’t forget this time!)
3.) Sell gun at pawn shop
4.) Cash-in the sack of nickels
Police questioned him and got a search warrant for his home where they found eight firearms and $16,000 worth of stolen property. It was also discovered that many of the nickels were from a stolen coin collection.
